Youth group lodges memo to international actors on Darfur war
A newly formed youth group lodged on Monday from Khartoum a memorandum to various international community actors calling for the end of violence in Darfur after 10 years of war.
A representative of the Ambibi youth movement told Radio Dabanga they chose March 4 to mark the decade-long war in Darfur, while noting that massacres, forced displacement, rapes, genocide and food deprivation are still ongoing in the region.
The group also called for the end of violence in Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains claiming that crimes committed in Darfur have been extended to these regions. They demanded that food and humanitarian aid is delivered to everyone in need.
Ambibi lodged the memorandum to the UN Security Council, the European Union, to the African Union and to "countries concerned with peace in Darfur".
