Doctors and staff from Mornei hospital in West Darfur went on strike on Sunday October 14, in protest against an attack on the hospital's medical director on Saturday.
A witness told Radio Dabanga that members of the police force brought a patient to the hospital and requested the medical director, doctor Abdul Halim, to examine the patient. They demanded the doctor to stop examining another patient and examine their patient instead.
When the doctor answered they had to wait, he was beaten, the witness added to Radio Dabanga. According to the witness, the doctors and workers participated in the open-strike on Sunday due to the assault on the medical director. He added that the strike led to a 'complete paralysis' in the hospital.
The witness pointed out that patients are suffering from the lack of doctors and staff in the hospital and its pharmacy.
He called on the local authorities to intervene immediately and find a solution to the problem, the witness added to Radio Dabanga from Mornei.
