An armed group killed a policeman and injured four others in Nyala, South Darfur, on Wednesday October 10, Radio Dabanga has learned.
During an exchange of fire between an armed group and police forces, which reportedly lasted more than two hours, two militants also got killed and another two were arrested.
The director of the state police brigade, Taha Jalaluddin, told Radio Dabanga that the armed group opened fire on a group of detectives when they were searching a home in Attash camp.
The attack resulted in the death of the investigation assistant, Mohamed Osman Mohamed Noor, and in the injury of four others. The police director added that his troops killed two of the gang members and arrested two others.
Another militant managed to escape, he added to Radio Dabanga.
Most dangerous criminals 'eliminated'
The governor of South Darfur, Hamed Ismail, announced the elimination of the most dangerous criminals in Nyala, including Adam Mohamed Sagdad.
Sagdad, who is accused of kidnapping foreigners in the area, has 18 pending reports about him, the governor added.
