UNAMID take precautions against camp intruders

Additional precautions have been taken to secure the bases of the joint United Nations - African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). This happened in the wake of infiltration attempts by unknown persons who tried to enter the headquarters of the UNAMID on Friday, 27 August in the peacekeepers' camp in Mellit, 60 kilometers north of El Fasher, North Darfur.

When an alarm sounded, the intruders fled away. The mission had experienced a similar incident the day before in Kutum. In a statement the peacekeeping mission said that it has increased security precautions at all of its bases.
