KALMA CAMP

(

.) -

Displaced people living in Kalma Camp accused government gunmen of firing seven rocks onto the camp at Center 6 on Monday night. The attackers fired heavy and light weapons but failed to hit anyone, according to a source in the camp. The UN peacekeeping mission made a similar report, stating Tuesday that “Gunshots were heard last night in one sector of the Kalma internally displaced person (IDP) camp... A UNAMID patrol immediately proceeded in the direction of the shooting. At the site, four RPGs were found, as well as more than 100 spent cartridges.”

In an update Wednesday the peacekeeping mission said that “the security situation in the Kalma Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp resembles that of previous days – calm during the day, with isolated incidents at night, which have however not led to any casualties. No gunfire was reported last night.”
