Misseriya-Rizeigat tribal fight hits West Darfur village
(

The Deputy Governor of West Darfur, Abu Gasim, called for a resolution of the conflict, which was reportedly set off when the Rizeigat failed to pay diyya (blood money) for outstanding claims. Diyya exchange was a particularly contentious issue during reconciliation negotiations several months ago.
The two tribes had reached a reconciliation deal in late June. The latest outbreak of violence has been severe: the Misseriya tribe declared earlier this week that it lost 88 tribesmen with 32 injured while the Rizeigat casualties are not known. Abdullah Al Amin Ali, an officer of the peace in Zalingei, emphasized in an interview that any incidents occurring after the peace conference will be considered the responsibility of individual perpetrators who will be held personally accountable.
