In the city of El-Fasher, four displaced people drowned, among them three children, in Abushok and Abuja camps. A camp representative from Abushok told Radio Dabanga that in Abuja camp 2 children drowned on Wednesday September 5. In addition, another child and a teenager drowned in Abushok camp on Thursday.
The representative explained that all of the victims drowned in excavations (about 6 meters deep). He pointed out that these excavations are a threat to the lives of the displaced, in addition to being excellent breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies. He appealed to the health authorities to spray the excavations after the end of the autumn season.
