Torrential rains and floods cause destruction in Central and West Darfur
IDPs and citizens from Central and West Darfur complain about the lack of help after floods and torrential rains destroyed their homes, damaged their properties and food supplies.
A number of citizens and IDPs complained that local and international humanitarian organizations did not offer them any help thus far. They added that dozens of families are still living in open areas, struggling to survive due to the lack of food, medicine, proper clothing and shelter from the rain.
The towns most affected by the heavy torrential rains and floods are Garsila, Nertity, Fur Baranga and Al-Geneina.
Unrevealed sources told Radio Dabanga that local authorities, represented by local officials, visited the affected areas after the destruction, however, they did not provide any help to those in need. Citizens have called upon the local and state authorities to carry out their responsibilities towards the people.
