The displaced persons from the Abu Shouk camp near El-Fasher, North Darfur, complain that thefts and burglaries are on the rise at the camp. They say shops and houses are robbed at night time by unidentified gunmen.

A sheikh told Radio Dabanga the camp saw a series of night thefts for the past two days. A children's center was also looted, and the value of the stolen equipment is estimated at more than 20 million Sudanese pounds. He added a water tank that supplies water for four blocks was also stolen, many shops and houses were destroyed and the Salam 7 girls' school was burned.

In addition, the sheikh said that although they reported the incidents to the police and to the camp's director, no initiative was taken yet to counter the problem.
