The Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps' coordinator told Radio Dabanga that five IDPs from the Al Hamidiya camp were arrested yesterday from a market in Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur. During the arrests the police followed a new approach using undercover policemen rather than the security forces. He added the arrests are a consequence of incidents that took place in the Al Hamidiya camp earlier this month when two people died.
The detainees are: Adam Adam Hussein, a driver also known as Phillips, Musamil Musa Sumqeri, Adam Suliman Mohammed, a businessman also known as Dokka, Mudesir Abdul Mawla, also a businessman and Nur Mohammad Yaqub.
The camps' coordinator said border guards led by Abu-Manga who abducted nine IDPs earlier this month are asking for a ransom of 900 million Sudanese pounds in order not to kill the hostages.
Last Monday, the IDP Maryam Haroen Ismail died as a result of an infection caused by her injuries. She was beaten up this month, along with four other IDPs, while collecting wood for fire near the camp.
