Ibrahim Mohammed Balandiya, the head of the Legislative Council of South Kordofan, was killed on Friday during an ambush. A group of armed men opened fire, killing Balandiya and seven others, including Faisal Al Bashir Al Khairi, the General Secretary of Strategic Planning in the state of South Kordofan.

They were on their way from Dilling to Kadugli when they were attacked by a group of armed men, a relative of one of the deceased told Radio Dabanga.
