Sudan: SLA-MM releases 63 SAF soldiers
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated the handover. The released soldiers were transferred to the authorities in El Fasher, North Darfur.
Adam Saleh, the military spokesperson of SPLA-MM, confirmed the release of 63 soldiers to the ICRC on Wednesday. He said the prisoners were released in two groups, one containing 34 and the second 29 prisoners. They were flown from East Jabel Marra to El Fasher Airpoirt. He stated that the aim of this release was to show the SPLA-MM commitment to international human rights conventions.
Both the SLA-MM and the Sudanese authorities requested that the ICRC assist in the operation in its capacity as a neutral intermediary.
