A doctor interviewed by Radio Dabanga offered tips for citizens in Darfur regarding diseases prevalent during the rainy season, including malaria. Dr. Hashem Abdullah Mukhtar, Internal Medicine Specialist at a hospital in Dublin, Ireland, told citizens to fill in holes that have been left after construction so that these do not become a breeding place for mosquitoes in the rainy season. He explained that spraying pesticides on stagnant water and using smoke and mosquito nets are also effective methods of malaria prevention. Dr. Hashem was speaking to Radio Dabanga as part of a new discussion series on health topics.
